The External Focusing Lens (EFL) is a ruggedized housing and lens system that allows the user to focus their fixed ATPIAL-C illuminator. Focusing your illuminator creates a useful, intense light source for long range engagements.

Once installed, simply flip the focusing lens in front of the aperture of the illuminator and increase the intensity of the laser illuminator an approximate 3-6x. The premium focusing lenses chosen for this task have Near-Infrared Anti-Reflective coatings to ensure maximum light transmission (~90%). These specialty coatings applied to the lens also ensure little to no laser light gets back-reflected into laser cavity.

TWO FOCUSING LENS OPTIONS:

Mid-Range: Focuses your illuminator approximately 3x. Your 6°/105mrad illuminator will be focused to an approximate 2°/35mrad beam.
This lens is great for Mid Range engagements or to defeat photonic barriers.

Long-Range: Focuses your illuminator approximately 6x. Your 6°/105mrad illuminator will be focused to an approximate 1°/17mrad beam.
This lens is great in conjunction with magnifiers/scopes for illumination out to longer ranges. We do not recommend this lens for anything less than 50 meters or without magnified optics.

PROTECTIVE HOUSING & INSTALLATION

The EFL assembly is composed of two individual pieces. The Body is bottom most portion of the EFL assembly and is responsible for a secure fit to the ATPIAL-C's illuminator. The new Gen 2 design is easily installed with a single clamping mechanism.

The second piece that makes up the EFL assembly is the Head. The Head is responsible for housing and protecting the focusing lens. There are two curved channels that run through the Head providing space for a 1" ID x 1-1/8" OD x 1/16" CS O-Ring to sit. The O-ring connects to the two struts on the body and on top of the EFL head—an extra O-ring tether is provided.

To Install the ATPIAL-C EFL Gen 2:

  • Fully Remove the clamping bolt from the base of the assembly with the provided wrench.
  • Slide on the entire EFL assembly onto your illuminator.
  • Check to see if your aiming laser is aligned with your focused illuminator. If it is not, adjust your illuminator turrets until the aiming laser is close to the illuminator beam. Rotation of the entire assembly may be required to properly align your aiming laser.
  • LONG RANGE ONLY- It is recommended to only use the long range lens with a magnified passive aiming night vision system. The long range lens is so focused that centering the aiming laser in the illuminator may require fine tuning. Perfect aiming laser centering is not guaranteed—only focused illumination.
  • Insert the bolt back into the clamp assembly and hand tighten. Do not over torque with the short end of the wrench!

NOTE: Due to the tight tolerances of the Head/Body connection-- to ensure little movement occurs when the optic is flipped-- the user is encouraged to push the Head of the device into the Body to make sure it is fully seated.

Note: These focusing lenses are made specific for the illuminator diode found in the Civilian Atpial-C. These will not work with full power Peq-15's or any of it's derivations. DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO FULL POWER PEQ-15's IF THIS LENS IS USED.
